Don’t listen to your Self-doubt
There are many reasons why Self-doubt crosses our mind. When we are working toward a goal there is usually a high level of uncertainty. Trying to accomplish something and the pursue of a new venture brings experiences that have never crossed our paths. All of this creates an environment where we may feel inferior and insecure. We start to second guess ourselves and negativity starts to cross our minds. We all know that a negative mindset is not very helpful when trying to accomplish your desires but it can be difficult to shake-off the negativity from our mind. Nonetheless, in order to become successful and happy we need to overcome self-doubt.
I usually have 3 big goals that I want to accomplish by the end of the year. It is now mid-June and my progress has been really slow. I am beginning to doubt my ability to accomplish the things that I set out to do. The feeling is normal but it is how I respond to this situation that really matters. When you begin to start feeling anxious and worried about your progress, your subconscious is telling you that it is time for a course correction. Listen to it and take an active role in making a change. Take one step closer to your goal by outlining simple steps for the next 3 days. The point is to get you back to a positive attitude by winning a few simple tasks. For example, I know that I have an important race coming up in about 6 weeks and have failed to ‘put in the miles’. I was feeling terrible and a huge self doubt came to me that I wanted to just quick the race. I tried to rationalize it by this and that. But the reality is that I needed to put in the work and start exercising. Today I went to the gym and jogged a few miles. Tomorrow I will go again and the following few days, I will go out and walk.
Giving yourself the chance to get over self-doubt is as simple as creating a few simple steps to get you out of the rut, so you can start to get away from negative thoughts and feelings. Think of some simple wins that you can handle right now. Talk to a few people about your desire to keep going and begin to craft a solution. There are many reasons to give up but there are more reasons to keep going. Think of why it’s important that you keep working towards your most desired outcome. We all have the power to accomplish things in life and we owe it to ourselves to continue towards that goal. We need to get up, create a simple path to overcome doubt and take action that will shift our minds to a winning state.
